Women’s health care covers the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of conditions that affect the physical and mental well-being of women at every stage of life. This includes routine screenings, reproductive health, bone health, pregnancy care, and the management of gynecologic conditions.
For most women ages 21–65, a Pap test is recommended every three years. Women with a history of cervical cancer, abnormal Pap results, HIV, or a compromised immune system may need more frequent screenings. Your provider will recommend a schedule based on your individual health history.
A clinical breast exam is generally recommended every 1–3 years starting at age 20, and annually after age 40. In addition, a monthly breast self-examination (BSE) is advised for all women. If you notice any new changes in your breast tissue, contact your provider right away. October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, our clinics actively support screening and awareness efforts.
Our women’s health providers diagnose and treat a wide range of gynecologic conditions including cervical and ovarian health concerns, STIs/STDs, incontinence, and menstrual irregularities. We also provide preventive screenings for breast and cervical cancer.
Osteoporosis is a condition characterized by a decrease in bone density, which makes bones more fragile and prone to fracture. It is most common in post-menopausal women. Treatment may include lifestyle modifications, calcium and vitamin D supplementation, and medications. Our providers can screen for and manage osteoporosis as part of your women’s health care.
